Creating Material Type Attributes

On the Attributes tab, define a list of standard and custom attributes for the material type. The standard attributes that are already defined are:

• Assigned Company
• Assigned Contact
• Contract Number
• Description
• Manufacturer
• Material Status
• Location
• Package Number
• Purchase Order Number
• Shipment Number
• Submittal Item

You can create custom attributes for the material type in addition to the standard attributes that are already available for each material type. These attributes can then be used for the selected material type to create material tracking records in the Material Tracking form.

Note: While creating a material tracking record, the custom attributes created for the selected material type are displayed on the Detailed Information tab of the Material Tracking form. For more information, see "Adding Detailed Material Tracking Information".

To create custom attributes

1. In the Material Types form, click the Attributes tab.
2. To create a new custom attribute line item, click Add.
3. In the grid, enter the following information for each custom attribute for the material type:
• Attribute: The text label for the custom attribute.
• Type: The field type for the custom attribute.

Note: To enter a list of values for a drop-down list, select Dropdown List in the Type field, and then click . In the dialog, enter the available drop-down list values.

• Length: The field length for the custom attribute.
• Delete: If you select a row for deletion, this check box is selected, and the row is deleted when you save the record.

4. To save the changes and keep the form open, click > Save.
